Atrensu is a secluded farminng community, within the Techiman North district of the Bono East Region of Ghana.

Over the years, the community has seen a hike in population as most people, from far and near, have come to settle within the community to engage in farming activities due to the availability of arable lands for farming activities.

One major social amenity, which has been a challenge to the Atrensu community is a potable drinking water.

According to the chief of Atrensu Traditional Area, Nana Kwain Daniel said ”one of the main problems we face as a community is a safe drinking water. The community has grown but water remains a headache as people continue to struggle to get water for their various household activities”.

In an interview, Mr Kwame Ansu, a farmer and a resident of Atrensu complained of the stress he has to go through in order to get a potable water for his family everyday. ”I have to wake up early morning to use my motorbike to convey water from other communities for the family. I do this because of the distance” he added.

Mr Sampson Agyeman, a tomato farmer disclosed of how he has to relocate to the Atrensu community without his family. ”I couldn’t settle with my family here because of the difficulty in getting water” he disclosed.

The Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency in the Bono East Region, Hon Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare on Thursday, August 19, commissioned a ten thousand litre water storage facility at Atrensu to support the community.

The commissioning was in response to a request made to the Hon. Member by the chiefs and the people of Aworowa during the electioneering campaign in 2020.

The Hon MP further stated that, her office is putting things in place to reach out to her constituents on all the promises she made to them. She therefore urged the people to exercise restraint and pray for her so that, her visions for the constituency will come to fruition.

The chief of Atrensu Traditional Area, Nana Kwain Daniel expressed his profound gratitude to the MP for honouring her promise to his people and called for more developmental projects in his traditional jurisdiction.

”This water storage facility project has come at the time that the community is battling with both erratic and inadequate domestic water supply due to the low capacity of the existing water projects at the community”.

Some residents of the beneficiary community who could not hide their joy after the project was commissioned, disclosed to Masemtvgh.com that the MP has given them a huge relieve and thank the Member of Parliament for responding to their requests.
