For effective running of the Techiman North District, the management of the district assembly held its third quarter management meeting on 28TH AUGUST 2023. The chairman of the meeting was the District Chief Executive, Hon. Addo-Donkor Everson with able support from the District Coordinating Director.
The District Chief Executive, in his opening remarks, welcomed members to the meeting and was grateful to them for attending the meeting and indicated that he was grateful to members for attending the meeting in their numbers. He indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on issues in regard to the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT VII) which was likely to commence in the month of September 2023 and to discuss resolutions from the General Assembly meeting held on Thursday, 24th August 2023. He therefore urged members to contribute for a successful meeting.
DISCUSSION OF DAPT VII INDICATORS
The indicators were read for discussions and submission from Members, action officers were tasked to take note of their respected areas and work on them. This indicator also seeks to explain the implementation of Annual Action Plan, Capacity Building, Revenue Generation, Audit Performance and Access to Social Service. It has been sub-categorized into four (4). Thus, General Assembly Meetings and Approvals, Functionality of Statutory & Mandatory Organs of the Assembly, Public Financial Management and Auditing and Transparency, Accountability & Participation.
The various departments and units were asked to brief the management on their job within the quarter. The District Finance Officer briefed Members on the upcoming Fixed Assets Register implementation. According to him, the government is moving the cash concept to the accrual concept of accounting, hence the need for the district to value all their assets and submit to the National Assets Register. He urged Departments and Units to nominate a staff that will support them in providing the necessary details of assets that are within the district for valuation. He stated that it is an important exercise that needs to be done as soon as possible. Members agreed that letters should be served to Departmental Heads as a reminder for the ongoing exercise.
The District Planning Officer informed Members that there is going to be a Sensitization Workshop on the 7th Cycle of the District Assembly’s Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT VII) on 28th August 2023 at Sunyani. She indicated that, the Sensitization workshop will be a preparation ground for the DPAT VII exercise and other related matters.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN BY MEMBERS
The District Chief Executive charged the Revenue Head as a matter of urgency to station a revenue collector at Mesidan Disposal Site to collect revenue from the cesspit emptier.
Community Police Assistant: After lengthy deliberation on the above subject, Assistant Director 1 (Carista Addai) was tasked to write a letter to the District Coordinator for National Youth Agency to expedite action by deploying all employees under the Agency posted to Techiman North to Techiman North instead of Techiman Municipal.
Nissan Patrol for the Police: The committee working on the above subject was tasked by the District Chief Executive to identify the various individuals, cooperate entities and philanthropes to solicit funds as discussed earlier and come out with the proposed price. He therefore urged the committee members to speed up on their task so that management will be able to update Hon. Members in the next General Assembly meeting.
Status of Feeder Roads in the District: Remigious Tenzah(AD 1) was tasked to write a letter to the Feeder roads engineer to invite him to the next General Assembly meeting to brief Hon. Members on the status of Feeder Roads in the District.
Low Prices of Cashew in the District: Assistant Director (Addai Carista) was tasked to write a letter to the cashew buyers and cashew sellers association in the district to discuss why the low prices of cashew and know the measures that could be taken to avert that challenge.
Relocation of Aworowa Market: The Physical Planning Officer was charged by the District Chief Executive to collaborate with Hon. Assembly Members at those Electoral Areas to meet Nananom on the above subject.
The Chairman in his closing remarks expressed his gratitude to Members for their co-operation and full participation which had brought the meeting to a successful end. She was glad on the turn out of the Members and their immense contribution for making the meeting successful.
On that note, she urged Members to work with what have been discussed during the meeting and get prepared for the next self-assessment that is scheduled on Tuesday 22nd August 2023 at the Assembly Mini Conference room. She thanked Members for coming and wished them to have a blissful weekend.
