In view of the recent upsurge of the covid-19 cases in the country, the Techiman north district health directorate with support from the Techiman north district assembly, NCCE and the district Security Council embarked on COVID-19 education and PPE distribution drive in the Tuobodom Township.
The project is aimed at mounting a robust public health response to the Covid -19 pandemic in the Techiman north district. It helped re-sensitize the general public on the heightened threat posed by the pandemic and re-emphasized the need for strict compliance of the preventive protocols. The project also distributed assorted personal protective equipment such as reusable nose masks and hand sanitizers to about 700 vulnerable individuals.
Some of the activities undertaken were
- Delivery of covid-19 key messages regarding the adherence to the preventive protocols
- Healthy lifestyles to boost their immunity and early health seeking behaviors.
- Assorted Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) were also distributed to the populace.
The project target audience were the market women, traders, general population in and around the Tuobodom Central Business Area with an estimated population of about 700 people including vulnerable men, women and children. The officers involved in the project were the officials of the NCCE, STAFF of GHS lead by DDHS, Techiman north district assembly led by the District Coordinating Director as well as men and women drawn from the Ghana Police service in the district. Means of communication was via megaphone public address system mounted on the DHD Pickup and a hand held megaphone public address system.
