Techiman North MP Commissions Mechanized Borehole to End Water Crisis in Takyikrom

Posted on March 1, 2026March 30, 2026 By mis

Residents of Takyikrom, a suburb in the Techiman North District, now have access to clean and potable water following the commissioning of a mechanised borehole on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The project was commissioned by the Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in the company of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson.

The initiative addresses a longstanding challenge in the community, where residents had for years relied on unreliable and unsafe water sources, leading to health risks and daily hardships.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare emphasised that access to clean water is a fundamental necessity for public health and economic productivity.

“Access to clean water is not a luxury but a necessity. This mechanized borehole is a demonstration of our commitment to improving the living conditions of the people of Takyikrom. When communities have access to safe water, health improves, productivity increases, and development becomes possible.”

She urged residents to take ownership of the facility through proper maintenance to ensure its sustainability for future generations.

Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, the District Chief Executive, commended the initiative and reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to supporting projects that directly impact the lives of residents. He encouraged community members to collaborate in safeguarding and managing the facility for continuous use.

Residents who spoke to the media expressed profound gratitude to the MP and DCE for responding to their long-standing water challenges. They noted that the borehole would significantly ease the burden on women and children, who previously had to travel long distances in search of water. The residents pledged to maintain the facility to ensure its sustainability.

The commissioning of the mechanised borehole marks a significant milestone in improving access to potable water in Takyikrom. The project reflects the continued commitment of the leadership of Techiman North to addressing basic community needs and promoting development at the grassroots level.

The ceremony concluded with the official commissioning and inspection of the facility by the dignitaries, attended by community members, traditional leaders, and district officials.
