The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Techiman North Hon. Addo-Donkor Everson in the course of the week distributed about 316,000 Cocoa seedlings and 10,000 Economic Trees to some 1250 farmers from Aworowa, Krobo and Buoyem.
This is in fulfillment of the government flagship programme Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) which has encouraged more youth to venture into Agriculture.
The DCE said the selection of the aforementioned three communities is as a results of the vegetaion of the area whiles other breed of Seedlings have been given to other farmers in various communities who have benefited from the programme after its introduction.
710 farmers from Aworowa received 146,000 cocoa seedlings and 4,500 Economic Trees (Framo) , 305 farmers from Krobo took delivery of 9,200 Seedlings and 2000 Economic Trees whiles 78,000 Seedlings and 3500 economic trees were distributed to 235 farmers at Buoyem.
Hon Everson in the course of the week also inspected on-going upgrading of Nyansuaka to Asempuu road and other areas in the District which when completed will make them motorable for farmers to transport their produce to near by markets.
