Address by Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare at the Techiman North District Assembly Meeting

Posted on July 31, 2025August 6, 2025 By James Ankamah

On July 30, 2025, the Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly of the Techiman North District was held, with a key address by the Honorable Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, who is also the Member of Parliament for Techiman North District.

The meeting focused on critical matters affecting the district’s electoral areas, including deliberations on the approval of the Common Fund budget to ensure effective resource allocation and development initiatives.

Upon her arrival, the Honorable Minister delivered a powerful speech to the Assembly, reinforcing the government’s commitment to local development, economic growth, and equitable fund disbursement. Stay tuned for updates on the key outcomes and resolutions from this pivotal meeting.

The DCE, Hon. Presiding Member, Coordinating Director, Hon. Assembly Members, Nananom, Development Partners, Heads of Department Friends from the media, Fellow Citizens of Techiman North, Good Afternoon.
I bring you greetings from his Excellency the President of the Republic John Dramani Mahama.
It is with deep gratitude and a sense of duty that I join you at this Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly of our District. I appreciate the warm invitation and commend your commitment to the progress of Techiman North.
As your Member of Parliament and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, I stand before you not just as a guest but also your representative, your advocate, and your partner in development.
The main agenda before us — the review and approval of the 2025 Annual Action Plan, Composite Budget, and Procurement Plan — is the blueprint for real progress. It is the space where aspirations meet accountability, and where promises must translate into practical action. As has been communicated to the MMDAs already, at cabinet, we approved the DACF guidelines. I therefore want to urge the management of the Assembly to adhere strictly to the utilization guidelines as issued to you. H.E John Dramani Mahama is critical about the approved guidelines and would take no excuse to depart from them.
You all know the slogan: Adjare Promises, Adjare Delivers. Nyame Wo Mu!
And together, we have delivered. In the past term, we built ICT centres to empower our youth. We constructed CHPS compounds to bring healthcare closer to our communities. Markets were built to support our traders. Modern toilet facilities were provided to promote dignity and public health.
These were not political tokens, they were investments in people.
And we are not stopping there. Therefore, today I say to you, we are not done. We are just getting started.

In this term, with the privilege of serving not just as your MP but also as Minister, I am determined to attract meaningful investment into Techiman North, leveraging our greatest asset: agriculture.
Plans are already underway to establish a cashew processing factory right here in the district. Additionally, I’m pleased to share that serious investor interest has been expressed in setting up a yam processing facility, which will help reduce post-harvest losses and boost incomes for our hardworking farmers. We are also in talks with Nananom to secure about 3,000-acre land for the establishment of industrial park to host multiple factories in the district. These are not just ideas — they are in the pipeline, and we are pushing to see them materialise.
These initiatives form part of the government’s broader 24-Hour Economy strategy, which seeks to unlock local productivity, create jobs, and energize rural economies. Techiman North has what it takes to become a hub of agro-industry and value addition in the Bono East Region.
But development is not the task of one woman or one Assembly. It takes all of us — Nananom, women’s groups, youth associations, civil society organisations, faith-based groups, and every resident of Techiman North.
Let this message reach every home and every heart:
Techiman North is rising. And there’s a place for everyone in this journey.
Let us unite behind this 2025 revised budget and action plan that seeks to reset Techiman North. Let us commit to building a district that creates opportunities for all — from the farmer in Tuobodom to the trader in Aworowa, from the young girl in Offuman to the market woman in Buoyem.
Together, we can do more. Together, we will do more.
May God bless the work of this Assembly.
May God bless Techiman North.
And may God bless our dear nation, Ghana.
Thank you.
