On the early hours of today, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Addo-Donkor Everson, together with staff of the Assembly and the District Director of Health, embarked on a field trip to three areas, namely Nyansuaka, Mesidan, and Asueyi to commission completed CHPs Compound facilities in the district.
The District Health Director, Dr. Alfred Ampofo, stated that the facilities were intended to serve the people’s health needs and bring health posts to their doorstep. This would reduce travel time and risks associated with moving to the district capital for treatment. He urged the people to patronize the health posts so they could be upgraded to Health Centers in the future.
Dr. Ampofo also noted that malaria cases were on the rise in the district and advised people to sleep under treated mosquito nets to prevent malaria. He encouraged elderly people to take advantage of wellness days at the facility to check their blood pressure and hypertension.
The District Chief Executive added that the government was intervening to improve the quality of health in the country. He also donated some streetlight bulbs to the people to install at the facility to prevent security threats at night.
Nananom and the people appreciated the health facilities and requested private businesses and NGOs to help furnish them for use. They also requested that the roads be fixed to encourage health officers posted there to stay and offer their services.
The District Chief Executive informed the people that the roads had been awarded to a contractor, and work would commence soon. He emphasized the importance of maintenance culture to ensure the health posts were well-maintained and safe for the community.
The commissioning of all three CHPs compounds was successful, and they were handed over to the health officers in charge of the areas.
