The Techiman North District had their First Ordinary Meeting of the 4th Session of the 3rd Assembly held on Thursday 27th April 2023 at the Assembly Hall. The Assembly Members from the Five zonal Councils as well as government appointees were present for the meeting. Records of attendance were taken by the Hon. Presiding Member and a quorum was formed as more than 2/3rds of Members of the house were present for the meeting to commence.
The Presiding Member Hon. Paul Gyamfi, District Chief Executive Hon. Addo-Donkor Everson and District Coordinating Director Mrs. Georgina Tumbakorah were present as well as heads of various Departmental and Unit Heads and staff of the Assembly.
The meeting was called to order at exactly 10:30am by the Presiding Member for the proceedings to start. Hon Members were given minutes of the previous meeting to go read for necessary corrections to be effected. After reading and corrections were made, Hon. Members move for the acceptance of the previous meetings as the true reflection of matters discussed.
Hon. Addo-Donkor Everson, DCE, presented his sessional address to Members of the house which covers nine semantic areas. The address touched on the following;
- Security situation in the District
- Finances of the Assembly
- Developmental projects
- Agriculture
- Education
- Health
- Water and Sanitation
- Social Intervention Programmes
and last but not the least
9.Recommendations of the Executive Committee
Highlighting on the Address, the District Chief Executive mentioned that, the security situation in the District is relatively calm and peaceful and thanked the efforts of the DISEC members and the security personnel in the District for their competence and strife action.
He added that, there is improvement on the Finance of the Assembly, which resulted in the Assembly exceeding its budget for the quarter 2023. This was due to strategic measures put in place to mobilize revenue through the institution of Cashew Taskforce and payment of Fees, Lands and royalties. He highlighted on the developmental projects such as the Extension of electricity in newly completed projects, installation of Traffic light at Buoyem, Mesidan, Asueyi, Jama Junction of the Wenchi road and commissioning of three CHPs Compound at Mesidan, Nyansuaka and Asueyi.
Members deliberated on the sessional address and recommendations from the Executive Committee meeting by the District Chief Executive. After lengthy deliberations, Hon. Members approved the committee’s recommendations and sessional address as documents to be worked on.
In the absence of further deliberations, the meeting was adjourned and brought to a close with a closing prayer.
