The colourful Farmers Day programme, which is his First Edition since the President nominated him as DCE for Techiman North, was historic to mark the Celebration at his place of birth (Bonya). He thanked the planning committee for his place of birth a yeoman’s job done for a successful programme.

The District Chief Executive of Techiman North in the Bono East Region; Hon. Addo- Donkor Everson (Second from the left) joined gallant farmers of his District to Mark this year’s 37th Farmer’s Day Celebrations at Bonya.

As a Farmer himself, Hon. Everson seized the opportunity to thank the organisers of this year’s event and congratulated the Awardees and all Farmers for their tireless effort to make sure we have enough food to eat.

Hon. Everson further stressed that Farmers should trust Nana Addo’s led NPP Government since they have Farmers at heart. That’s why the government has introduced various pro-poor Farmer policies like Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, Greenhouse Project, etc., which needs to be embraced by all, he added.

Speaking on the theme “PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS: CONSOLIDATING FOOD SYSTEM IN GHANA”, Hon. Everson said the theme was appropriate because Agriculture is the third force that contributes a lot to the growth of our economy hence the need for every citizen to join the plan by producing more to feed ourselves and export some since the government is committed to helping every Ghanaian to excel in the Agric sector. At the same time, the government is committed to also supporting Farmers by liaising with stakeholders to provide financial and technological support to the citizenry.

Hon. Addo Donkor- Everson* again urged the youth to take advantage of flagship programmes to venture into the Agric sector to cushion them in their respective areas.

He further stated that he would do his best to support Farmers in the Techiman North District in all aspects to uplift the District’s image in the country.

Finally Hon. Everson thanked all sponsors and stakeholders who helped in diverse ways to make this year’s farmers Day a success and told all award winners to work extra harder to climb the ladder to the Regional and National level in the subsequent year and charged those who did win to also work hard for an award next year.

All nine(9) individuals, including some Associations, were honoured at Bonya.
