In the early hours of today, Hon. Kwabena Adom Johnson, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Techiman North District Assembly, held a strategic meeting with the management team of Obapack Group of Companies at the Mini Conference Hall in Tuobodom.
Hon. Johnson warmly welcomed the delegation, noting that while he had planned a courtesy visit to Obapack, he was pleased that the company had also initiated the engagement. He introduced himself and his management team, expressing gratitude for Obapack’s contributions to the local economy. The DCE also highlighted the government’s Feed Ghana initiative, emphasizing how the program aligns with efforts to strengthen agribusiness in the district.
The Obapack delegation, led by Group Head Mr. Kojo Obeng Aboagye, thanked the DCE for the reception. Mr. Aboagye explained that Obapack is a consortium of seven member companies and is currently a leading producer of tomato paste and shea butter in Ghana. Originally established to tackle post-harvest losses—particularly in onion preservation—the company now boasts an impressive storage capacity of 9,000 tonnes.
Following the presentation, Hon. Johnson acknowledged the strategic importance of Obapack’s operations. He pointed out that Techiman North District is predominantly agrarian, with vast potential for large-scale cultivation of onions, pepper, and ginger—provided farmers receive the necessary support and market access.
In his closing remarks, the DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with Obapack Group, recognizing the mutual benefits such a partnership would bring to the district’s economic growth and development.
