Following H.E. the President’s directives, through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on PHASE TWO of the NATIONAL DISINFECTION, FUMIGATION AND CLEANING OF MARKETS, LORRY PARKS, PUBLIC TOILETS AND PUBLIC PLACES in the district, I am delighted to state that the Zoomlion Ghana Limited under the supervision of the Techiman North District Assembly, within the Bono East Region, has effectively carried out the designated activities successfully as scheduled on July 23-24, 2020.
The primary purpose of the exercise is to contain the spread of COVID-19 disease by enhancing conditions of hygiene in the various markets, lorry parks and other public places.
Items available for the exercise included:
- Six [6] spraying machines and one [1] machine burnt during the exercise.
- Chlorine disinfectant,
- One pick-up vehicle.
The exercise proceeded with an orientation at Techiman, the capital town of Bono East where an address was delivered by the Regional Minister, Hon. Amoakohene on the state and the spread of the pandemic and the rationale for the disinfection and fumigation of the designated areas and requested the team members to exhibit professionalism in carrying out the exercise.
The exercise was carried out district-wide but on communities with markets, lorry parks and public toilets etc. The communities included Tuobodom, Tanoboase, Offuman, Buoyem, Mesedan, Asueyi, Jama/Timponim, Krobo, Akrofuom and Aworowa.
In attendance was Hon. Peter Mensah (District Chief Executive), Mr Joseph K. B. Tang (District Coordinating Director), Mr Asamani John (District Environmental Health Officer) with his staff in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Ltd
Due to the limited time given to perform the exercise, the team encountered some difficulties in information dissemination to the public.
Adequate logistics should be committed to improving performance.
