Posted on July 16, 2025July 18, 2025 By James Ankamah

On July 16, 2025, Hon. Johnson Kwabena Adom, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Techiman North District, paid a courtesy call to the Omanhene of Tuobodom. The visit aimed to officially introduce himself and the assembly staff to Nananom. The DCE thanked Nananom for praying for him and lobbying on his behalf for the DCE appointment. The team accompanying the DCE included: District Coordinating Director: Mrs. Georgina Tumbakora, Heads of Department and Units, Hon. Presiding Member: Hon. Sampson Damasi, Assembly Members and Party Executives. The courtesy call demonstrates the DCE’s commitment to building strong relationships with traditional leaders and stakeholders in the district.

The Omanhene, Nana Adjei Kokoo Takyi Beryeman and his elders of chiefs, warmly welcomed the District Chief Executive (DCE) and his entourage, expressing gratitude for their visit and in his speech, he offered valuable advice

Leadership and Diligence

  • Leadership Advice: The Omanhene advised the DCE to lead the people with diligence, acknowledging the responsibility to lead both the supportive and critical members of the community.

Unity and Forgiveness

  • Togetherness Among Party Members: He emphasized the importance of unity among party members, encouraging them to work together harmoniously. The Omanhene urged party members to forgive each other and maintain bridges, rather than allowing past tensions from the general election to create divisions.

Recommendations on Infrastructure development

The Omanhene’s advice to the DCE highlights key development for the Techiman North District:

Access Roads: The Omanhene emphasized the need for improved access roads to communities within the district and neighboring municipalities, specifically mentioning the Tuobodom-Traso to Techiman road and the Tuobodom-Offuman to Wenchi road. Better roads can enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and improve access to essential services.

District Hospital: He urged the DCE to prioritize the completion of the district hospital, which is still under construction. The Omanhene’s feasibility studies indicate that approximately 500 people enter the town daily, making the lack of proper healthcare facilities a significant concern. Completing the hospital would help address the healthcare needs of the growing population and improve overall well-being in the district.

The Omanhene recommended reconstruction of the Subin bridge to prevent blockages of the main road when the river overflows, ensuring smooth transportation and reducing potential hazards.

Lorry Station: A well-planned lorry station would improve transportation infrastructure, providing a safe and organized space for vehicles and enhancing the overall development of the district.

Well-Equipped Market: The assembly should plan for a modern market facility to enhance trade, commerce, and economic development in the district.

Promoting Peace and Security

The Omanhene expressed appreciation for the efforts of the District Security Council (DISEC) in maintaining peace and security in the district. Key points from his remarks include

  • Importance of Peace: The Omanhene emphasized that peace is a valuable commodity that requires collective effort to maintain and promote within the district and its environs. He therefore called for a complete surrender of guns and weapons in the coming days to enhance security and reduce potential threats.

Police Responsibilities

  • Community Security: The Omanhene urged the police commander and his team to ensure the community remains secure and to take proactive measures to prevent crime.
  • Preventing Nighttime Loitering: He advised the police to find ways to prevent young people from roaming the streets at night, potentially engaging in unlawful activities or posing security risks.

Revenue Mobilization

The Omanhene highlighted the importance of revenue mobilization for the district’s development. He specifically drew attention to:

  • Petty Traders and Businesses: The Omanhene urged the revenue head to focus on petty traders and various businesses within the district to enhance revenue collection and promote internally generated funds (IGF).

The Omanhene’s words reflect a desire for peace, unity, and effective leadership within the community and the party. His advice to the DCE underscores the importance of responsible and diligent leadership

    Education

Nana emphasized two key areas for improvement in the district’s education sector:

    • Preventing Examination Malpractice: Nana urged the Education Director to ensure the integrity of examinations by preventing malpractice.
    • Promoting STEM Education: Nana encouraged the DCE to lobby for the establishment of STEM secondary schools and other educational facilities that promote quality education in the district.

Nana’s encouragement to the assembly staff to give their maximum support to the DCE highlights the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the district’s goals. The assembly staff’s maximum support is crucial in helping the DCE achieve his vision for the district. This support can manifest in various ways, such as: Collaborating with the DCE to implement development projects, Providing administrative and technical expertise to support policy implementation, Facilitating communication and engagement with stakeholders, Ensuring effective resource allocation and management.

The DCE was advised to focus on his spiritual growth and relationship with God, without seeking external spiritual support or guidance from other sources. this includes deepening his faith and connection with God through personal reflection, prayer, or meditation.

The courtesy call by the DCE and assembly staff to the Omanhene of Tuobodom marked a significant step in fostering strong relationships between traditional leaders and district officials. The Omanhene’s valuable advice and recommendations highlighted key areas for development, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, peace, and security. By working together and prioritizing these areas, the district can achieve meaningful progress and improve the quality of life for its residents. The DCE’s commitment to responsible leadership and the assembly staff’s maximum support will be crucial in driving the district’s development agenda forward.
