30 more communities to benefit from the LEAP program

Thirty more communities in the Techiman North District are to benefit from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program.

The District Chief Executive, Peter Mensah disclosing this also indicated that this will mean additional 681 beneficiaries would be added to the existing ones.
 
He made the disclosure at the ninth ordinary meeting of the fifth session of the second assembly meeting.
 
The DCE said the expansion of the program will reduce the high level of poverty in the district, adding that GHS 2,469.00 has been paid to the beneficiaries during the quarter.
 
Mr. Mensah also stated that 62 physically challenged persons across the district received support ranging from economic ventures, training and schools fees, as well as medical assistance.
 
On agriculture, he said the assembly registered over 2, 000 cashew farmers on Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD).
 
He further outlined some development projects currently running in the district including commissioning of CHPs compounds at kyiridiagya andTanoboase, a three unit classroom block and repairing of street lights district wide.
 
He called for peaceful co-existence and unity that will bring meaningful development to the district.
