Techiman North, August 26, 2025 – The Techiman North District Assembly has taken a decisive step forward in the realization of the 24-Hour Economy Model Market project, a flagship national initiative spearheaded by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
On Monday, August 25, 2025, the Honourable District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, convened a meeting of the Assembly’s Technical Committee. The primary agenda was to review proposed site plans and select a suitable location for the construction of the district’s Model Market.
Following a thorough technical evaluation and deliberation, the Committee collectively identified and approved a site at Tuobodom as the optimal location for this significant infrastructure project. The market is a key component of the national 24-Hour Economy policy, designed to stimulate local economic activity, create jobs, and provide a modern, secure trading environment for businesses to operate round-the-clock.
The project is to be implemented by all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
In his address to the Committee, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson underscored the project’s transformative potential. “The selection of the Tuobodom site is a critical milestone for the Techiman North District. This Model Market will serve as a powerful engine for our local economy, empowering traders and farmers while bringing immense benefits to our community. We are fully committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure the successful and timely execution of this project.”
The next phase will involve further detailed architectural planning and stakeholder engagement with the Tuobodom community to ensure the project’s design meets the specific needs of the people.
The Techiman North District Assembly remains dedicated to pursuing development projects that foster inclusive growth and improve the livelihoods of its citizens.
