<\/p>\nA joint rapid assessment team led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Agyei Mensah, and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Johnson Kwabena Adom, has visited flood-hit Konimasu Area 2 in the Techiman North District following a heavy downpour that left four residential houses submerged.<\/p>\n
The team, which included officers from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), conducted the field visit at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, to evaluate the extent of damage, document affected households, and gather critical data to inform immediate relief and long-term flood control strategies.<\/p>\n
The assessment confirmed that Konimasu Area 2, a low-lying and chronically waterlogged community, remains highly susceptible to flooding due to its topography and grossly inadequate drainage infrastructure.<\/p>\n
According to the District Information Officer, Mr. Michael Owusu, floodwaters entered living spaces in all four affected homes, destroying household items and displacing residents. Affected property owners include Salifu Adams (BT-0091-5619), Boatemaa Gloria (BT-0091-6124), and Iddrisu Fatawu (BT-0130-5313). One property owner could not be immediately identified.<\/p>\n

Hon. Johnson Kwabena Adom, visibly moved by the plight of residents, engaged directly with affected families and assured them of the Assembly\u2019s commitment to addressing the situation.<\/p>\n
“The flooding you experience here is not new, and it is unacceptable for it to continue recurring. We are here today not only to sympathize but to find lasting solutions,” the DCE stated.<\/p>\n
He further indicated that the Assembly would collaborate with NADMO, the Works Department, and other relevant stakeholders to fast-track drainage improvements and land grading in the area.<\/p>\n
The team identified several challenges, including poor drainage networks, persistent waterlogging, and high vulnerability of lives and property during rainfall events.<\/p>\n

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Agyei Mensah, also called on residents to complement government efforts by refraining from dumping waste into unauthorized drains and reporting early warning signs to the authorities.<\/p>\n
