The Techiman North District marked a significant milestone on Friday, December 5, 2025, as it hosted the 41st National Farmers\u2019 Day celebration at Mesidan under the theme:\u00a0\u201cFeed Ghana, Eat Ghana and Secure the Future.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0The event brought together farmers, traditional leaders, government officials, and stakeholders to recognize agricultural excellence and outline transformative plans for the district\u2019s agri-food sector.<\/p>\n

In his address, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Johnson Adom Kwabena, commended farmers for their resilience and vital contribution to food security and economic growth. He highlighted key government initiatives such as the\u00a0Feed Ghana Project<\/strong>,\u00a0Agroforestry Carbon Credit Program<\/strong>, and\u00a0HAPPY Project for youth and women in tomato processing<\/strong>, all aimed at boosting productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and promoting sustainable farming.<\/p>\n

Hon. Kwabena also announced the ongoing\u00a0Nkoko Nkitinkiti poultry project<\/strong>, designed to revitalize local poultry production and reduce dependency on imported frozen chicken. He further revealed that\u00a0500 acres of land at Aboabo<\/strong>\u00a0have been secured for an industrial hub to host factories that will process local farm produce.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry,\u00a0Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare<\/strong>, reinforced the government\u2019s commitment to transforming agriculture into a competitive and profitable venture. She assured farmers of ready markets through state procurement of local produce and announced that the\u00a0cashew processing factory at Tanoboase is on track for completion by February 2026<\/strong>. This facility is expected to create jobs, reduce post-harvest waste, and strengthen the district\u2019s position in the global cashew market.<\/p>\n

Both leaders emphasized the need for innovation, mechanization, and value addition to overcome challenges such as climate change, price volatility, and post-harvest losses. They also addressed pressing social issues, including rising HIV rates and drug abuse among the youth, calling for community-wide action and support.<\/p>\n
