Johnson Kwabena Adom<\/strong>, held a strategic engagement with executives of the\u00a0<strong>Tuobodom Federation of Tomato Growers<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>Monday, 5th May 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">The high-level discussion focused on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Enhancing tomato production<\/strong>\u00a0through modern farming techniques<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Improving market access<\/strong>\u00a0for local farmers<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Increasing revenue generation<\/strong>\u00a0through value addition<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Implementing Local Economic Development (LED) initiatives<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Hon. Adom reiterated the Assembly&#8217;s dedication to agricultural development:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;This meeting marks our renewed partnership with tomato growers. Through collective effort, we&#8217;ll implement interventions that will make our generation proud and transform Techiman North into an agribusiness hub.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Farmers raised pressing issues including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Post-harvest losses due to inadequate storage facilities<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Exploitation by middlemen in the value chain<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">High cost of quality inputs (seeds, fertilizers)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Need for mechanization support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Assembly pledged to <span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Facilitate access to affordable inputs through farmer cooperatives, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Establish aggregation centers to improve market access, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Train farmers on post-harvest management and value addition and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Link growers to institutional markets (school feeding, hospitals).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">The DCE announced plans to <span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Incorporate tomato farming into the district&#8217;s LED strategy, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Seek partnerships for processing facilities and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Organize regular farmer forums for continuous engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Closing Remarks<\/strong><br \/>\nHon. Adom commended the farmers&#8217; resilience and assured them:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;Your concerns are now our action points. My office will work with relevant departments to implement these solutions within the next quarter.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">The Federation&#8217;s Chairman, Mr. Yaw Boateng, welcomed the interventions:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;For the first time, we feel truly heard. We&#8217;re ready to work with the Assembly to transform our industry.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Hon.
