The Techiman North District Assembly has convened its Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly at the Assembly Hall in Tuobodom, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the development and administration of the district.

The meeting, held on Monday, August 17, 2026, was attended by the Member of Parliament and Minister of Trade, Industry and Agri-business, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Johnson Kwabena Adom, the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, the District Coordinating Director, Heads of Department, security personnel, media representatives, and other officials of the Assembly.

The proceedings commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the Presiding Member calling the meeting to order, followed by an opening prayer offered by Hon. Osei Maxwell. A roll call was subsequently conducted to confirm the attendance of Assembly Members. Hon. Ansah Enoch, Assembly Member for Krobo, who acted as Chairperson in the absence of the Presiding Member, expressed appreciation to all participants for their presence and support, and encouraged active participation throughout the day’s deliberations.

The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and considered by the House, with members given the opportunity to make corrections and amendments. Following the necessary adjustments, the minutes were adopted as a true record of the previous proceedings, moved by Amankwa Fred and seconded by the House. The Assembly thereafter considered matters arising from the previous minutes, discussing outstanding issues and following up on decisions and resolutions. In this regard, representatives from the Electricity Company of Ghana and the Environmental Protection Agency had been invited to brief members on their operations, providing an opportunity for clarification on matters relevant to the district’s development and welfare.

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister of Trade, Industry and Agri-business, briefed the Assembly on the progress of development projects across the constituency. She reported the completion of several road projects, including Aworano–Mesidan, Abrafi Estate, Sebene, Konimase, Jama, and Timponim roads, while work continues on the Krobo, Jebiri, Anyinabrem, and Tuobodom town roads. She further announced the resumption of work on the Buoyem–Akonkonti feeder road. In the area of market infrastructure, the MP highlighted the construction of new markets at Akrofrom and Asueyi, with sod-cutting already completed. Regarding education, she reported progress on classroom blocks at Ampenkro and Issakrom, as well as the Training College. Hon. Ofosu-Adjare also disclosed that preparatory works had commenced for a garment factory, which is expected to create significant employment opportunities. She concluded by emphasising that the development of Techiman North requires collective effort and unity among the Assembly, communities, and her office, and encouraged all members to continue working together to sustain development across the constituency.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Johnson Kwabena Adom, in his address, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their support towards the development of the district. He reported that the security situation remains generally calm, though petty crime and drug abuse among the youth require continued attention. He took the opportunity to introduce ASP Peter Vube-Ere as the new District Police Commander. On revenue mobilisation, the DCE reported that the Assembly generated GH¢562,936.00 in Internally Generated Funds during the second quarter of 2026, representing 120 percent of the target, while the Assembly also received GH¢3.83 million from the District Assembly Common Fund. In the area of infrastructure development, he mentioned ongoing and planned projects in health, education, water, and sanitation, including the Tuobodom Polyclinic facility, classroom blocks, and eleven solar-powered boreholes. He further reported that feasibility studies had been completed for the proposed 3.14-kilometre Tuobodom–Traa road, which is expected to improve transportation and economic activities. In agriculture, the district received 1,500 bags of fertiliser under the Feed Ghana Initiative. Regarding education, the Assembly procured furniture for schools and expressed concern about teenage pregnancy and indiscipline, leading to the development of a District Code of Conduct. The DCE also highlighted ongoing health and sanitation interventions, the registration of 774 new Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty beneficiaries, support to 194 Persons with Disabilities, and the distribution of 153 start-up kits to trained youth through the Ghana Enterprise Agency. He concluded by calling for unity, accountability, and collective effort among Assembly Members and stakeholders to accelerate development and improve the living conditions of the people of Techiman North District.

Following a short break to enable members to refresh themselves, the Assembly deliberated on the DCE’s Address and the Executive Committee Report. Members made contributions, sought clarification on issues of concern, and offered suggestions aimed at improving the implementation of development programmes and the delivery of services within the district. Following the discussions, the Assembly proceeded with the necessary approval of the reports.

The Assembly further considered the reviewed Annual Action Plan and Composite Budget for the 2026 financial year, presented by the District Budget Analyst in collaboration with the Honourable Assembly Members. Members carefully examined the proposed revisions, discussed the various programmes and activities, and considered the financial implications of the reviewed plan and budget. The discussions focused on ensuring that the reviewed Annual Action Plan and Composite Budget adequately reflected the development priorities and needs of the Techiman North District.

Under Any Other Business, members raised issues of importance relevant to the development and effective administration of the district. After all items on the agenda had been duly considered, the Presiding Member delivered the closing remarks, thanking members and officials for their contributions and participation, and the meeting concluded with a closing prayer.

The Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly provided an important platform for the Assembly to review its activities, assess ongoing development initiatives, and deliberate on matters affecting the development of the Techiman North District. The consideration and approval of the DCE’s Address, Executive Committee Report, and the reviewed Annual Action Plan and Composite Budget for 2026 further demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to promoting accountability, effective planning, and sustainable development in the district. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to guide the Assembly’s activities and priorities in the coming months as it continues to pursue its vision of a prosperous and well-developed Techiman North District.
